Competitor Materials Analysis
This is where we get started. It’s homework that makes results effective. Consider these questions: What is your company’s current position in the market? Is it high-end, mid-market or budget? What position do your customers see you in? Do they see your company positioned as you intended? Who are your ideal customers? How do you want them to perceive your company today? How do you want your company perceived in five years? To develop new marketing and advertising materials that “get your message right,” it is critical that MG Lomb’s team know the answers to these questions. We accomplish this with a Competitor Materials Analysis.
Do I need one? Probably. If you don’t have a current collection of at least your KEY competitor’s materials, then Yes – you do need one.
What exactly is it? It’s a collection of your competitor’s current marketing materials – we collect them. This information is needed for two reasons: first; for MG Lomb’s team to thoroughly understand your company, market, customers and competitors, and second; to have a current benchmark of your competitors’ materials, for use in building your new ones.
How will this help me? A Competitor Materials Analysis tells you where you stand. Your market and competitors are evolving every day. Some of them are very smart and doing great things. If you benchmark off old materials, or design in a vacuum, you won’t be better than your competition. Learn what your competitors are doing today, build on it, and make your new materials better than your competitor’s. Don’t get left behind.
What do I get? That depends on the scope. Some projects require in-depth research and corresponding reports, while others require only a few hours to familiarize us with your business. Below are two examples, one simple and one in-depth.
Simple: May take only one day. MG Lomb will review your existing literature and website, before we begin any new work. When finished, we’ll make suggestions.
In-Depth: MG Lomb will review your KEY competitors’ materials. This effort will result in a written report and presentation of our findings. We analyze: logos, websites, brochures, Ads and more, all side-by-side with your own materials. Our goal is to uncover what your competitors are doing right, wrong, and how you can learn from them. With an opportunity to see your existing marketing materials side-by-side with your competitors’ we can begin planning to improve your marketing or advertising program.
