Our History & Milestones

1996: Michael G. Lomb (RIT, BFA 1992 – Industrial Design) founded Spark Design Group (renamed MG Lomb Advertising, Inc. in 2006). Michael left his position as Vice President of Sales & Marketing at a local design firm to launch the agency.

From inception, the agency provided consulting and creative services to clients including Home Properties of New York, and Xerox Corporation. The work from these accounts was substantial enough to quickly outgrow the firm’s first humble office, and resulted in the agency growing to six full time staff, within the first two years.

MG Lomb Advertising is currently located in the quaint Village of Fairport, a Rochester NY suburb, alongside the picturesque Erie Canal.

1999: The agency added several new accounts, large and small, including Johnson & Johnson’s Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics, Harris RF Communications Div., and (LGB – Germany). During this phase the agency’s capabilities and services grew to include international accounts and interactive marketing.

2002: While in Germany meeting with client Ernst Paul Lehmann Patentwerk (EPL) Michael Lomb was asked by EPL’s President, Rolf Richter, to fly to the client’s NY City offices to meet with the CEO of their North American subsidiary LGB of America. MG Lomb Advertising was subsequently selected as their North American advertising agency responsible for all print advertising, media placement, special events and some public relations work.

2005: MG Lomb was awarded the development and management of an international advertising campaign for Syracuse NY based Black Clawson Converting Machinery, as well as the creation of their new corporate identity program. The client’s parent company (Davis-Standard, LLC) was so impressed by the results that MG Lomb was selected to do the same project for them.

2006: MG Lomb launched an international advertising campaign for Davis-Standard, LLC & Black Clawson with advertisements running in North America, Germany, China, and the Middle East. MG Lomb Advertising developed and launched a new website for The Gunlocke Company, division of the Hon Company.

2007: First Chinese website developed and launched for The Converting Systems Group of Davis-Standard, LLC (German website in production). MG Lomb launched a new interactive marketing tool for Johnson & Johnson’s Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics.
