FREE … WEB LISTINGS (the Phone Books of the Internet)

Everyone wants their business to be found. If you want people surfing the internet to find your services, then free web listings are a smart way to accomplish that goal. Free listings WILL help your website to rank more quickly and frequently during organic web searches. Again, there is no cost for many of these web listings. The more places that your website URL and business are listed, the more likely you are to perform with Search Engines like Google, MSN and Yahoo.

Free listing websites are like the Yellow Pages of the internet. Because this listing industry has not yet fully settled into a small concrete group of default sources, there exist many listing sites that can be effective (MG Lomb has narrowed our list to roughly 20 locally, and 20 nationally). Being free, the listing websites usually prohibit you from including detailed information about your company. Although for a set cost certain sites may provide “premium” listings. Most will (for free) include your business phone number, physical address and a link to your website and/or an e-mail address (although not in all cases).

FREE ... SOCIAL & PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING

These are NOT a waste of time. As print media declines, the Internet will replace these advertising mechanisms. It is a smart business decision for your “company” to have its own LinkedIn account (see MG Lomb’s LinkedIn profile), and possibly a Facebook or Twitter profile (see MG Lomb’s Twitter profile). Professional networking websites such as LinkedIn are the manner by which THE MAJORITY of business professionals (see what CNN Money has to say about LinkedIn) network, and initiate new vendor-client relationships. In other words, sales are being made. Depending upon your type of business, LinkedIn may be the only way to go, or Facebook may also be an option. MG Lomb can help you to decide which works best for you and provide you with your options, implementing a simple or sophisticated program for your business.

INTERNET ADVERTSING (PAID)

July 2009 – an 8.5% decline in global advertising is reported, while online advertising grows by 10.1% - ZenithOptimedia Ad Report 2009. This is not a trend to be ignored. As traditional advertising loses beachfront to the Internet, MG Lomb has seen a shift in the placement of print and broadcast dollars to web-based advertising options. MG Lomb has made a commitment to helping our clients’ transition, by offering both the production of web-based advertising (banner ads) and the procurement of internet advertising programs. KEYWORD UPDATES & REGISTERING WITH SEARCH ENGINES
If you only do the bare minimum, then updating your keywords & meta tags is something you cannot afford to avoid. These are the terms used by people performing searches on Google, Yahoo & MSN to find your business. Are your search terms (keywords & meta tags) current? You probably gave a list of words to your web developer some years ago. Are those same words current today? Why do you need them? Simply put – without these, you are not likely to be found by people searching for you online. Your keywords & meta tags should be updated, at least, every two years.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) + GOOGLE ANALYTICS
If you’re serious about getting quantifiable data about your web traffic and site visitors then Google Analytics (free) is a great tool to consider. By spending 15 minutes per week you can find out who is visiting your website, what pages, for how long, from what town, city, state and country. MG Lomb has set up the majority of our web clients to use it. Google Analytics (GA) is FREE software, developed and provided by Google. We believe that it is the most effective tool available, considering its cost (free). MG Lomb has been providing our clients with free demos of GA, and showing them what GA can do for them. If you’re interested in a free demonstration, please contact us to attend one of our sessions. We can also travel to your facility to present, however we do charge a small fee for onsite sessions, to cover our travel expenses, etc.

GOOGLE AD WORDS; PAY-PER-CLICK
Owning search terms (by paying for the ones most commonly used by your customers) can increase sales, especially if your market is saturated. Pay-Per-Click programs, such as Google Ad Words CAN and WILL guarantee that your business is listed on the first search page of Google. Of course, this is because you pay for it.

How does it work? A great feature of Google Ad Words is that you can set a “budget” … a preset, fixed dollar amount. When that runs out, you’re done paying and your listing disappears. Each keyword or phrase that you select (purchase) is assigned a price (by Google) and is based upon how many people want that search phrase. Popular search phrases, like “real estate agent,” are going to cost more than less common ones, like “snake charm baskets”. Still, you pay only for the “clicks” occurring when your link is selected. If the cost of your clicks can easily be recouped from the sales you generate from them, then Google Ad Words is a good deal.

MG Lomb has experience with one situation where more than $7,000 per month is being spent because the business generated by it easily paid the costs. No one can explain how it works better than Google, so click here to learn more. MG Lomb assists our clients with setting up Google Ad Word programs, and can help you to learn to monitor and use this tool for yourself.
